Our Story

How Flo came up with the idea of ​​founding a coffee roasting company in a hammock in Central America and why quality, transparency and sustainability are so important to us:
 

unbound coffee roasters is the result of a journey full of passion for coffee and close relationships with the people behind the beans. What began with a chance farm visit and a motorcycle trip through Colombia became a mission in a hammock in Panama: higher coffee quality, better taste and more appreciation - through direct cooperation with farmers and honest transparency, from the farm to the cup.

From the farm to your cup

Our coffee beans come from selected farms around the coffee belt. In addition to high quality, we place particular emphasis on direct contact with the farmers. This means we can trace every bean back to the farm, many are traded directly, and we have visited most of the farms personally.

 

This close exchange gives us deep insights into the conditions on the ground – knowledge that we pass on to you unfiltered.

 

After the harvest and the careful work steps on site - from drying to processing - the beans travel on to us in Wattens. Here we roast them lovingly by hand in a 15kg drum roaster. Temperature, duration, roasting profile - we keep everything as transparent as possible so that you can make more conscious decisions and enjoy better coffee.

We have found our home in the old Swarovski factory halls - and with our show roastery we have created a place where you can experience coffee with all your senses. Here we roast beans with love, test new flavors and are happy to tell you more about the journey from the farm to your cup.

 

During our opening hours you can watch us roasting live – and if you want to delve even deeper, you can roastery tour or a barista course book.

 

Our location in the middle of Tyrol near Innsbruck is a stroke of luck for us. It allows us to live out our love of the mountains and nature alongside our passion for coffee in our free time.
